1. Please introduce yourself.
Hello, I’m Suzie! I’m a first year graduate student at Rice University, studying viola performance. I completed my bachelor’s degree earlier this May in the same degree and aspire to become an orchestral musician. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and exploring new areas!
2. When did you start Ringle and how did you find out about it?
I started teaching on Ringle in June 2023, and I found out about the platform through my university.
3. Can you share your most memorable lesson on Ringle?
I can’t think of a particular lesson that stuck out, but I enjoy having lessons with regular students! Continuing the conversations and discussions we’ve had and connecting on a deeper level is so gratifying and allows me to better understand their motivations and goals for learning English. Whether it be making discoveries or having new realizations, I’m happy to be alongside my students and assist them on their English learning journey!
4. What makes your teaching style unique?
I try my best to make each student as comfortable as possible. I meet a wide range of students on this platform, some who are very experienced and others who are not as comfortable with English. It’s important to give students the space to express themselves freely and create an environment for them to learn easily.
5. How often do you teach on Ringle and how do you manage your time?
I teach whenever I have time on the weekdays, which are usually mornings and evenings. Since weekends are more free, I’m able to open more time slots then. Ringle’s flexible schedule has been so helpful in maintaining my teaching schedule, especially since each day looks different for me.
6. Any advice for new Ringle tutors?
Get to know your student before starting! The introduction and small talk portions before the lesson are key in familiarizing yourself with the student’s background and motivation for taking lessons on Ringle. Take genuine interest in your student and their goals. Before starting the lesson, ask them to identify skills they would like to improve on and tailor the lesson towards achieving these goals.
